It was 1929, and as the Great Depression began, so did Jim Davis’ moving company. The charge for a van and two men was $2/hr.

Jim’s son, Al Davis, began working on his father's truck when he was just 10 years old. Al went on to serve four years as a Transportation Officer in the United States Air Force and then gained additional experience in the moving industry, driving for several national van lines. After Al met his wife Annette, they founded SCM Moving in Temecula, California.

At the age of eight, Al’s son Austin unofficially joined the business, cleaning out trucks and folding moving pads. After earning a degree in communications and media studies from Northern Arizona University, Austin officially took over as president of SCM Moving in 2020.
